Where and how is the heart set?
Is it set on the things above and with the YES to Yahushua button turned on?
Considering this saying, that, could it really be possible to be so “heavenly minded” that we are no “earthly good”?
Thinking also that heavenly minded means that one is operating according to the Kingdom of YHVH and not according to the kingdom of this world. To have the mind renewed and able to be ready at all times to give account of the faith that we have in our messiah, to exhort in love, to encourage and to give testimony of what we have experienced and always staying where we are washed by the Blood of the Lamb, to have his blood flow from the throne room full of mercy and full of love.
“So heavenly minded that we are no earthly good?”
This is a 'cliché' I've heard on and off since becoming aware of religion and church all of my 47 years on this planet. And, I have still not reconciled the message of it in my heart, which in essence when analyzing it, it is an oxymoron that does not present the truth.
Thinking that those who say 'heavenly minded' are really meaning something about those who may be operating without the Head which is Yahushua, but, often may not be heavenly minded enough to be the judge of another no matter who it is. I would rather encourage someone else to be heavenly minded so that they will be earthly good.
As I have heard many sermons in “Church” where this was used against anyone who did not fit the profile that the pastor or preacher thought someone ought to fit. Those not wishing to please man but to please their Abba. Even those using this 'saying' may quench the Spirit of YHVH at times without that being the intention.
But thinking, is it good to call those heavenly minded who operate in the Spirit of YHVH?
Should they be earthly minded or heavenly minded? Walk by the renewed man or old man? Will YHVH appreciate mixing the two, but, that is not the intended meaning, but rather the saying is misleading if the words are taken literally?
So just to say some words in the Light that heavenly mindedness is the only way to be earthly good, here are some of my thoughts. Not to take issue with anyone, understanding what was meant by use of this 'cliche' but rather to raise a banner, that maybe we should use these words in a better way to exhort and to encourage others who may need to seek after a renewed mind and to be full of the Holy Spirit of YHVH!!
And, in the reality that we live in a world where we truly are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses although we may have not seen them yet or have been made aware of them in more of an experienced way.
So far, I have not seen anyone who is or has been truly heavenly minded who has not been a champion of the kingdom of YHVH. The people I know who have been totally sold out to Yahushua the one meaning Yahuweh is Salvation of Heart no matter the outwardly name used, have been the ones called in scripture as a strange or unique people.
Of experience, being referred to in this way in the past with those who were true seekers of YHVH to do his will, and when these very people being referred to as such, were the ones teaching, going out to witness and bringing people in to salvation, doing with their Faith! Without being heavenly minded, no one will do such things in this world. Maybe to be heavenly minded so that we are heavenly good to bring people into the kingdom?
My experience of being filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit of YHVH at first was to find something to do for him. A zeal from his heart to become someone who makes a difference. When around 22 years old, I joined a bus ministry in our 'Church' where the 'guts' of it was to get out in the neighborhoods and go door to door visiting people, adults and children to get them to come to 'Church' where at least the Salvation message of our savior was given and many were truly born again. But more importantly to give my personal witness of our savior regardless of the 'Church'. I was a shy person but the Spirit of YHVH made me bold and all of the fear disappeared, even being given the toughest neighborhoods in the city where drug dealers and other things were prevalent. I have many good experiences of changed lives and of protection of YAH in the midst of evil but even more of a blessing is that this experience changed my life even more. For some time this bus route brought in 80 – 100 children and adults every week. And, ironically the visiting day was on Shabbat which thinking back is still a blessing, this day where we went out and presented our faith by showing love and kindness to these people. Surely trusting in Abba YAH for his protection in a real way! He is our protector! And, it is amazing the 'strange' situations that occurred to bring about opportunities to witness to people of our salvation! Many out there know about these things but were amazed to see these 'crazy' people actually doing what they believed! We know how wonderful the Heart things are vs. The outward show!!
We tend to think that the outward matters more than the inward but it is opposite of what we think. Who are we to know which ones our messiah still has in his hands even if they are not outwardly in the same 'movement' of understanding as we have arrived at. Maybe more would quit saying NO if we encouraged them? We are not to judge by outward appearance but to look on others from the Heart perspective. Give words of kindness, of love, of showing the way, of the path we took to get out of the same things. That will always generate love for one another. Yahushua sees the Heart.
We who are on the Living Torah path do see the dangers of refusing to walk in the way he teaches as he shows.
The danger being that there are those who replace the Heart faith in the Living Torah who is our Righteousness for Salvation with something else of man's doctrines and written scriptures. Maybe some of these are even those proclaiming Torah or, as well, could be of those who are in religions or the 'Church'? We should never make up our own 'Torah' or private interpretations of the Real One and hold men to what we have come up with. The solid foundation cannot be mistaken which is our Yahushua! But even, of the Heart to Know and be Known of him regardless of outward knowledge of him. To have the Salvation of the Heart by trusting in and receiving the Living Torah of Righteousness!
Yahushua is the Living Torah. Could it then be said that salvation can be had by calling upon his name of the Heart, to have this same one dwelling in the Heart!, and then to hold on to him like a bulldog even through any of the storms of life, storms of doctrines, storms of any religion or outward thing that might try to replace the Faith required in the Living Word for salvation? Prove any words by the scriptures, but also knowing who is the one being witnessed of and He is so much better than any of the copies of his Heart.
How many are there who have grown cold because of “Lawlessness” or rather not having the “Living Torah” in the Heart, that could also be said as *Yahshua-less-ness*. Knowing that the faith coming by He, the Living Word, for salvation must not be replaced nor also to never let anything outwardly make a difference in whether or not we hold on to Him. Man's opinions can never be of more authority than those of the High Priest who is at the Right Hand of Abba YAH. He is our covering and has paid the price to be. As long as we hold on to the REAL THING and never give Him up for a substitute of anything outwardly that is only a witness of him.
The Living Word comes to our Heart, when we say YES to him, our Yahushua and our Abba, and then we Walk in His Truth of which is all of his words and of his Torah Righteousness. To honor and obey the one who became, is becoming, and will become all of the things of his Being the Living Torah.
The essence of and primary thing, to show the same forgiveness and love to and for others, to point others to the real way that they can become FULLY TORAH COMPLIANT! By doing what the Living Torah said of his Heart, to attain Salvation and to become born again. To experience him, the real Torah, and not to only learn about a copy of his Heart of written words. To then be made 100% righteous in Torah by having his righteousness that he paid the price for to give us. He is and will become all of the requirements of Torah for righteousness, but saying another way by Faith he IS already the I AM BEING ALL THINGS and has overcome ALL THINGS!!
And unless we are set-apart and seek Shalom with all men we shall not see master YHVH. That includes Shalom with all of our brothers and sisters, with all of our enemies and those who would seek to destroy us.
Hebrews 12:14 Follow shalom with all men, and set-apartness, without which no man shall see YHVH:
It is so important to maintain a pure heart, meaning to say YES inwardly always to everything that our Yahushua is while we work on the outward things. A spiritual meaning of the renewed man that has put off the old man. (Colossians Ch. 2)
Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in lev (heart): for they shall see YHVH.
That there were more 100% heavenly minded people in this world but could we even attain that level! Maybe also thinking that could there really be a level of "heavenly mindedness" that would become a bad thing? From what I have experienced, no one has been heavenly minded enough! If there were more as such things would be so different in this world!
Are heavenly minded people those who love? Have we loved enough?
Are heavenly minded people those who give? Have we given enough?
Are they the ones who are kind? Have we been kind enough?
Are they the ones who hate quarrel and will walk away from strife? Have we walked away enough?
Are they the ones who will forgive and stay humble before the master Yahushua? Have we forgiven and stayed humble enough?
Are they those who always point out the good things and exhort at the moving of the Spirit of YHVH because of those things which lead astray? Have we been diligent in these things enough?
Are they those who live according to Salvation and are the Salt that always either tastes good or burns those who are not of like nature? Have we been salty enough?
Do they always appear 'holy' according to man's ideas of scriptures or in true holiness to YHVH? Have we submitted enough to YHVH?
Are they rather watching out for the true experience instead of the outward show? Have we experienced enough yet?
If there are those who are heavenly minded, should they be called such? I would think it an honor.
Or rather are there pretenders who do not bear fruit which may be the real intent of the saying? If the fruit of the person is good, maybe they should be honored by such a title as being heavenly minded but if the fruit is bad, maybe a more fitting title would present an honest picture of their halacha/walk?
Now, consider that the real saying to match scriptures should be as follows.
Be heavenly minded according to the renewed man so that we are able to do good for the Kingdom of YHVH, and to do earthly good works according to the same, as to prevent stirring up the things of the old man.
Speaking to each other in honesty, sincerity and to stir up the Holy Spirit to bring about renewal of the mind, to seek YHVH with all of the heart, to love him with all of our being and to then love others as we love YHVH above all. Thinking too that to love YHVH and to have something stir our spirit in our heart to action as he guides, that his love sometimes is tough love.
Colossians 3:1 If you then are risen with Moshiach, seek those things which are above, where Moshiach sits on the right hand of YHVH.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For you are dead, and your chayim (life) is hidden with Moshiach in YHVH.
4 When Moshiach, who is our chayim (life), shall appear, then shall you also appear with Him in tifereth (glory).
Agape Love, the Love of the Messiah, our Yahushua, our salvation! Our Heart!
(What message does this speak to those not of Yahushua who do good works and appear before men giving to charities and other such things?)
1 Corinthians 13:1 Though I speak with the diverse languages of men and of heavenly malachim, and have not ahava, I am become as sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all sod mysteries, and all da’at; and though I have all emunah, so that I could remove mountains, and have not ahava, I am nothing. 3 And though I distribute all my material things to feed the poor, and thus give my body to boasting, but have not ahava, it profits me nothing. 4 Ahava suffers long, and is kind; ahava envies not; ahava does not boast, is not puffed up, 5 Does not behave itself indecently, seeks not its own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil; 6 Has no gilah in Torah-less-ness, but has simcha in the emet; 7 Bears all things, believes all things, has tikvah for all tov things, endures all things. 8 Ahava never fails: but whether there are prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be diverse languages, they shall cease; whether there be da’at, it shall vanish away. 9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is Perfect has come, then that which is in part shall be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly; but then panayimel-panayim: now I know in part; but then shall I know Him, even as also He has known me. 13 And now abides these three – emunah, tikvah, ahava; but the greatest of these is ahava.
These words mean nothing without Yahushua. The exhortation is that they be an encouragement to seek out these things for oneself and to remain humble before YHVH.
A heart issue presented according to my testimony.
May we not grow weary in doing good and persevere in the faith and keep showing the way to the good Unleavened Bread!
Emet and Ahava,
